Summing up 2021

2021 was a year of challenge and time management as I juggle work and being a new mom to a lovely energetic toddler. Realizing that the last post i made was to sum up 2020, I definitely hope I can be a tiny bit more active in virtual space this year. (Can’t promise too much when I’m only finishing up this post that was meant to be for December/January!)

So here’s a little highlight on some projects, both personal and client I worked on in 2021.

2021 Phone Wallpaper Monthly Calendars

An attempt on making digital calendars for the year and I love how all of the wallpapers turn out together at the end of the series! A big thank you to all who supported this digital personal project and I hope you loved it as much as I did!

Here’s a fun gif with all the months in a flash!

LEXUS Automobile (People’s Republic of China)

Very thankful to the team at LEXUS China for this year-long commission project for their e-newsletter on WeChat! I must say, this was a very good learning curve for me on automobile and human illustration and also time management was a challenge due to the tight deadlines given. If you have a WeChat account, go follow the LEXUS official WeChat account and spot my artwork!

The ABCs of Chinese Culture Playbook - Indigrow

Yay! It’s my first published book illustration project! I have been doing illustrated zines for a long time, and I have been wanting to do book illustration and I’m grateful for this opportunity! I worked till wee hours in the morning for this one before waking up to another day of toddler action so it was quite physically and emotionally challenging but so worth every tear and sweat! It’s packed with colourful illustrations every single page and they’re available for purchase here.

I will be taking the first half of 2022 to recalibrate, only working on slow and small-scaled projects, and also perhaps kickstart the online Zoom Workshops! because 2021 made me realise that I need so much more self-care and growth, both as an illustrator, as a mom, and as an individual.

Meanwhile, thank you to all who gave me work, thank you to all who supported me in one way or another. Have a good year ahead!
